Great job and Great share!!

thanks!

Thanks so much for taking the time to put together directions and upload this for our use in studying.

THANK YOU!! This is a great share. I will be trying it in my lab this weekend...

thank you for your effort

1st of all, thanks for the share. I've managed to successfully install ccum6 with no errors. However, when I tried to log in from the
console using the credentials I've entered during installation, the system would not accept the username/password combination. Did
anyone have similar issues like this? By the way I chose the normal ccum6 option (not the business version).

It happened with me once, and I read it happens often... most probably it is a user error due to the great number of passwords/usernames you are asked provide during the installation... I suggest you use the same username/password throughout the installation (I know it is not secure, but at least at start to get the handle of things and after that you can try to use different password for different users).

BTW, after you run the server, you do not need to log on to it?almost all of your interaction with it will be through the web-interface.

It still doesn't work. No matter what username & password I use during installation the system just would not accept them. I use VMWare workstation 6 with Red Hat Enterprise 3. Can anyone explain what the issue is here?

I had the same issue. It should never ask you for any login information during installation. If you allocated some hard drive space probably it's not enough. Try this time much more.
or just go without any space allocation.

Hi Hemos,

The 1st phase of my installation went through without any errors. I had a screen saying something like "System will momentarily reboot in order to continue installation" after which I had a console login screen asking for username & password and that's where I got stuck. Did you get something similar & how did you fix it?

That's what I said already above - same symptoms. I increased hard drive size for vmware Red Hat 3 .

I set the partition size to 15GB. What size did you set it to?

First I went 10GB than 20GB I don't use fixed size right now, don't allocate any fixed space.

I created a 72GB HDD (and did not allocate space). You do not even need to have a 72GB empty on your HDD so why not Cucm 6 0 1 iso Dvd Image.

Hi Guys,

Firstly thanks for this great share but I just need to clarify a couple of things

1) does this iso install everthing you need? ie dont have to install linux/windows OS first?
The reason I ask is cause I followed the instructions created the virtual machine on workstation 6, booting off the iso is fine and it trys to install the CCM but right at the end of the installation it says that there is no partition to install on?!

Some please point out in laymans terms exactly what is the score?

Thanks again

Hammer

Follow instructions exactly as laid out by Ashraf Al-Dabbas. Nothing more to add.

CCM 6.0.1 is already integrated with Red Hat operating system. No need for anything else. It is All-In-One.

Do you have enough hard drive space left on your system for vmware ?

I end up with 7GB used for CCM but during installation when all the files are uncompressed seems like at least 20GB is needed.

It appears that you still need to specify a 72GB partition as recommended by Cisco even though CUCM 6 only takes up a mere 2GB+ of disk space (after it's been shutdown). Thanks for assisting.

HEllo every one

finally it works very fine for me

i think the issue is to give it 72G no problem if u don't have it

just give it and it dosen't exceed the 10G

and remember all u'r passwords or just keep them as one password

just for who need it, i did it virtulay using loopback interface no any physical hardware

also make sure to remeber the ip address "if u don't use DHCP as for me " and be sure it's reachable "PING TEST"

aftre finish installation ping to the ip address of the CUCM u specified because u will need it to access the web pages

finally here is my succefuly test and images

Yes guys finally i have managed to install CCUM 6.0.1 by doing everything one by one as Ashraf Al-Dabbas described. It took almost 2 hours to complete but it is worthed. Just allocate 72 gig HD space, 512 MB RAM and edit virtual machine settings and choose CD-ROM drive and on the right hand side under Connection choose use ISO image browse the iso file that you have downloaded from the links here and start your machine. It is going to take some time and you will answer some questions about your network that this RED HAT LINUX is going to join. After finished installation, you don't even need to login to your machine, just go to another machine and write it's IP Address in the Internet Explorer like http:\\192.168.200.123 that is it.

Has anyone tried this with VMWare player ??

Can anyone please help me on what network config I should use for the CM install in VMWare ?

My LAN (and host) is on 172.16.14.0/24 and I am using bridged networking.

My Virtual Adapters are in the 192.168 range, and thats the only IP that worked during the CM install.

My guess is that now, only the host can talk to CM6 unless I setup my WinXP host to act as a gateway ?

Should I have changed the VMnet adapters IP address prior to install to match my LAN's address ?

Interesting; it is the 1st time I notice that VMware Virtual Network adapters has a static IP address?I guess I need to learn a lot about VMware technology.

Anyway, can you please test your theory by having another PC/Laptop in the network??

I have all my devices on 192.168.1. network so I had no such an issue.

Hi Ashraf,

Firstly, thanks for the share.

I think my install is all ok, and I can log in the command line, but all services seem to be in a STOPPED state.
Therefore I cant go to the web interface.

Is there some step that I missed out ?

Thanks

I solved my networking problem (turned out to be a zonealarm thing), and now I have CM up and running on my LAN !!

However, I had to manuall start all services, and then go to the servicibility web page and activate everything.

However, it seems that the licenses available for phones are 100000 ? How is that possible ? I thought it only allows 50 units.

Thanks

I cant get Web Help to work.
When I select Help, I get a HTTP Status 404 - /Help/en_GB/ccm/index.html

Has anyone else faced this problem ?

Thanks

anyone got it working on the business edition, it has unity as well but can't install it.... call manager only version works fine....

let me thanks you in advance. Where and how do I download these images? I have tried and gave up on 6.1.0. Installation hangs on "Database Installation" phase and never recovers. Perhaps I will have better luck with 6.0 that has worked for you.

Guys: I have tried installing CUCM 6.0 and 6.1 using vmware server 1.X and workstation 6.0 on win xp and on windows server 2003 and came out with the same problem: it hangs after databae installation during running 19/24 scripts. Hangs solid and, vmware screen turns black and stays there for ever. I have done the partition as suggested i.e 72 gigs, used typical vmware with no luck. Please help. Thanks PS: I did not download the dvd imaged from here. Could it be the images? but, two bad images for 6.0 and 6.1????

So I successfully installed it, but how can I browse to it, when I issue an ipconfig I see that VMware has two IP Addresses 192.168.56.1 and 192.168.73.1, so does it have to be part of the same VLAN. I am running Windows XP in the background,
