MBA hiring began to strengthen in 2005 and continued to do so in 2006, according to surveys focused on the hiring landscape for new business school graduates. In its annual Corporate Recruiters Survey, published in spring 2006, GMAC found that companies planned to do more MBA hiring in 2006 than in 2005, as measured by planned on-campus recruiting, percentage of new hires expected to be new MBAs and other metrics. Recruiters surveyed expected to sign on 18 percent more MBAholders in 2006 than in 2005, focusing especially on those with finance and marketing experience. In the future they’re going to be looking at more candidates, too: recruiters say that the average number of schools that they visit to troll for candidates should rise from nine to 10.
