HOW TO USE THE CD
=================

Autorun CD Menu
---------------------

To use this companion CD, insert it into your CD-ROM drive. If AutoRun is not
enabled on your computer, run StartCD.exe in the root of the CD to display the
starting menu. The menu provides you with links to all the resources available on
the CD and for accessing the Microsoft Press product support Web site.

Note about the electronic books included on this CD-ROM: The Training Kit
eBook, Encyclopedias, and Sample Chapters are provided on this CD-ROM in
Portable Document Format (PDF). To view these files you will need Adobe Acrobat
or Adobe Reader. For more information about these products or to download
the Adobe Reader, visit the Adobe Web site at http://www.adobe.com.



Readiness Review Suite
----------------------

The Microsoft Press Readiness Review Suite Powered by MeasureUp includes
practice tests and an objective-by-objective review for exams 70-290, 70-291,
70-293, and 70-294. Multiple testing options help you assess your knowledge.

To install the Readiness Review Suite, run Setup.exe in the Review70_29x folder
and follow the instructions that appear on your screen.


Lab Files
----------------------

The 70-291Labs and 70-294Labs folders contain lab files that you need to complete
the hands-on exercises provided in MCSA/MCSE Training Kit (Exam 70-291): Implementing,
Managing, and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure; and
MCSE Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-294): Planning, Implementing, and Maintaining a
Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure. These files are organized
by chapter.



Electronic versions of the Training Kits (Training Kit eBook)
-----------------------------------------------------------

The complete text of the original print books are contained on the CD in a searchable
PDF eBook.

To view the eBooks, launch the PDF files in the eBook folder.



Electronic version of the Microsoft Encyclopedia of Security
--------------------------------------------------

The complete text of the original print book is contained on the CD in a searchable

Software Update Services
------------------------------

The SUS folder contains Software Update Services 1.0 Service Pack 1, white papers,
and a Flash demo of SUS.

To access the software contained in this folder, launch the SUS.htm file located
in this folder, and click the link of the item you wish to install or view.

To view the white papers, you will need Microsoft Word. To view the Flash demo
you will need Macromedia Flash.


Windows Server 2003 Sampler
---------------------------

This folder contains sample chapters from several Microsoft Press reference books in
searchable PDF eBooks.

To view any of these sample chapters, launch Sample_chapters.htm in the Sample_chapters folder
and click the link of the book you wish to view.



Windows System Resource Manager
-------------------------------

Windows System Resource Manager is a feature of Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
and Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition.

With Windows System Resource Manager, administrators can control how CPU and memory resources are
allocated to applications, services, and processes. Managing resources in this way improves
system performance and reduces the chance that applications, services, or processes will
interfere with the rest of the system. It also creates a more consistent and predictable
experience for users of applications and services running on the computer.

You can use Windows System Resource Manager to manage multiple applications on a single computer
or users on a computer on which Terminal Services are installed.

For more information or to install Windows System Resource Manager, open the Readme.htm file
in the WSRM folder.

Troubleshooting
--------------------

Long file names on CD and 16-bit CD-ROM drives:

If you have an older, 16-bit CD-ROM drive and you browse this CD, you will
see truncated filenames on folders and files. Contact your CD-ROM drive
manufacturer for information about this issue and for the latest driver updates.


Manually copying files from CD-ROM:

If you manually copy the sample files from CD-ROM to your hard disk, you may
need to remove each file's read-only attribute in order to use the file. To
do so, right-click the file in My Computer or Windows Explorer and click Properties
in the context menu. On the General tab, clear the Read-Only check box in the Attributes
section. Click OK.
