Peter Collier, David Horowitz, The Anti-Chomsky Reader
Encounter Books | ISBN 189355497X | 2004 | PDF | 0.8 MB | 275 pages
Beginning with his criticism of the Vietnam War in the 1960s, MIT professor Noam Chomsky has become better known for his radical politics than for his theories of language. These essays scrutinize both the theories and the politics: linguists Paul Postal and Robert Levine reevaluate Chomsky's linguistics to find parallels with his politics; scholar Paul Bogdanor explores Chomsky's hatred of Israel; Ronald Radosh and David Horowitz discuss Chomsky's gloating reaction to the September 11 attacks; and other authors examine Chomsky's Holocaust revisionism, apologies for Khmer Rouge tyrant Pol Pot, and strident views on America's policies in Latin America.
An other anti anarchist book, pure shit.
Although I thank anjer for the post, ezzebio is absolutely right: This "book" is pure and simple shit. Those idiots involved in the creation of this crap cannot hold a candle to Chomsky's intellectual acumen & his devastating analysis of the Empire and how it is destroying society at large.

Stop the bullshit! Read the book or delete it.

I would never argue against a "Read the book" philosophy, but anyone who doesn't realize that Chomsky towers above Likudnik intellectual midgets like Horowitz hasn't been paying attention.

Chomsky may well be regarded as an outstanding intellectual (in some quarters) but there are many examples of him distorting the documented facts to fit his agendas. Why not address the issues raised rather than resorting to ad hominem attacks?
Try to read Chomsky, get enlightened, then read this book and get nauseated .... nuf said

Thank you, anjer, for yet another wonderful book, where do you get these?!
It seems to me that some people treat Chomsky like a new Christ - do not dare to probe, do not dare to criticize, if you say anything against our idol, you are an idiot (typical leftish demagogy - instead of trying polemic with ideas, they sling mud at anyone they do not like). Let me ask you one simple question: if he hates USA so much, why he still lives there? Why does not he relocate to Cuba, North Korea or say, China. For me it's a sign of immaturity - he spits on social system he lives in - but he gladly accepts privilegies that this system provides. For me it is a pure hypocrisy - I was born in socialist country and remember all too well the useful Western idiots who praised socialism and communism, spitted on the West, but still preferred to live in immoral but fat Western society than to relocate to worker paradise. They come to lecture us on how happy we are, stay a couple of days in best hotels, and than go back to 'rotting West'. Chomsky is one of those leftish demagogues, never really grown up, flourishing on blind admiration of brainwashed levaks.
My point is simple - if you decide to preach others, than live to your preaching - otherwise shut up. Not everybody is a blithering idiot to buy home-spun activists like Chomsky. They are, what they are - useful idiots!
Hi Kucyk! Whenever hi lives, hypocrite or not, he can write about the society he lives in very thoughtfull things.
@ kucyk
First, let me offer my condolences for the conditions you had to endure in your "socialist paradise". Few would claim that the US is the worst country in which to dwell (consider Zimbabwe or Burma), but that isn't the point. Rather, how far from the ideal is the US and in what direction is it changing?
Having for years argued with "conservative thinkers", I've concluded that their brains do work differently. Consider

kucyk, no one could have said it better. You lived through it all from the inside, and got to experience first hand what all those "utopias" really are: hell on earth.
You also hit the nail on the head with regard to Chomsky's followers, they claim to stand for all those allegedly "progressive" values like freedom of speech; however, the minute they are confronted with opposite views, instead of engaging their opponents, they slander them.
Are "liberal" ideas so feeble, so illogical, so devoid of any empirical standing that they cannot withstand the littlest scrutiny, and must therefore be guarded (like the Soviet Union was, like Hitler's Germany was, like Cuba is, like North Korea is) by a wall of lies and vicious attacks lest anyone realizes what a pathetic house of cards they are?
I've never been afraid to defend my ideas and ideals, on the contrary I welcome every opportunity to engage in a civilized discourse; I wonder, though, why those who claim to stand for the free exchange of ideas are the least willing to do so...
