glamourpuss #1-9 (Ongoing)

And now for something completely different! glamourpuss is a Canadian independent comic book written and illustrated by Canadian artist and master graphic novelist Dave Sim, the creator of the 300-issue, 6,000-page epic Cerebus ("... the longest-running originally English-language comic book series ever by a single creative team."). The premise of the comic book is threefold: a parody of fashion magazines, a history of photorealism in comic books (starting with Alex Raymond's Rip Kirby in 1946), and a surreal super-heroine comic (read that the strangest super-heroine comic book of all time). Great art and layout work, though. Posted here purely for purposes of trivia and equal-opportunity exposure. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Glamourpuss' new boyfriend shapes this entire issue, including 'Really Good Advice for Really Clueless Boyfriends,' a full-length comic story; 'When Avant Garde Went Retro' featuring Avant Garde Glamourpuss of Earth Ex trapped in a Time Loop by an arch foe; and 'Rehab Reflections '09' on glamourpuss' 8-week stint at Southern Ontario's Caring Clinics earlier this year.
